Deepening China-Nepal Friendship for a Better Future: President Zhao Meiling Visits Madan Bhandari Memorial School in Nepal
On April 21, 2026, Zhao Meiling, Director of the China Foundation for Peace and Development (CFPD) and President of Women Empowerment and Development Society of Asia and Africa (WEDS.AA), led a delegation to Kathmandu, Nepal. Usha Kiran Bhandari, Chairperson of Madan Bhandari Foundation, hosted a welcoming banquet for the delegation. The two sides had in-depth discussions on public welfare support, livelihood cooperation, and people-to-people exchanges.


President Zhao and her delegation then visited Madan Bhandari Memorial School, where teachers and students held a grand ceremony to welcome the guests. At the event, the school principal delivered a speech, expressing sincere gratitude to WEDS.AA and CFPD for their ongoing public welfare support. The principal praised the close cooperation between the two sides, which has played an important role in improving the campus environment and supporting local education development.

In her remarks, President Zhao said that WEDS.AA and the local foundation share the same vision and have built a strong foundation for cooperation. Over the past six years since its founding, WEDS.AA has remained committed to using public welfare as a link and culture as a bridge, deepening mutual learning among civilizations and advancing practical and friendly people-to-people cooperation between Asia and Africa.

During the visit, President Zhao and her delegation donated 100 schoolbags filled with care to the school. She encouraged the students to study hard and strive for a bright future, and to become young ambassadors of China-Nepal friendship, passing on the deep bond between the two countries.
