International Women’s Day event

On March 26, the “Health with Us” themed event, a special activity for International Women’s Day, was jointly organized by the Women Empowerment & Development Society in Asia-Africa and the Group of African Ambassadors’ spouses(GAAS). Over 20 ambassadors’ spouses and diplomats from various countries visited Beijing Fengtai District Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) . The event focused on women’s health, offering an immersive experience of TCM culture and showcasing the charm of Eastern civilization.

Wang Xiaonian, President of Fengtai District Hospital of TCM, warmly welcomed the guests. He emphasized that as a practitioner and inheritor of TCM culture, the hospital is committed to “safeguarding public health,” particularly focusing on holistic health management for women throughout their lives. The hospital advocates a “four-dimensional” diagnosis and treatment model—addressing mental, psychological, spiritual, and physical well-being—embodying the TCM philosophy of “preventing disease before it arises” and “controlling progression after onset.” He expressed hope that this event would deepen exchanges with international peers and explore the potential of traditional medicine in modern women’s healthcare.

Zhao Meiling, President of the Women Empowerment & Development Society in Asia-Africa, thanked the hospital for its meticulous arrangements. She noted that TCM culture not only embodies the wisdom and essence of the Chinese nation but also serves as a shared spiritual treasure and health asset for humanity. The event allowed participants to experience the profound depth of TCM firsthand while fostering cross-cultural dialogue through the “power of women.”

She commended President Zhao Meiling for her longstanding dedication to African philanthropic causes and her contributions to China-Africa cultural exchanges. Many ambassadors’ spouses remarked that TCM’s natural approach to harmonizing body and mind was enlightening.

Experts from Fengtai District Hospital of TCM used diagnostic methods such as observation, listening, inquiry, and pulse-taking to address the guests’ health concerns, offering personalized advice and treatment plans. While most foreign guests initially expressed fear of acupuncture, patient explanations from experts and translators helped them overcome their hesitations. After trying acupuncture, many enthusiastically opted to experience moxibustion, ear acupressure, tuina massage, and spinal adjustments.
