Silk Road Spreads Friendship, Education Boosts Development: Handover Ceremony of a School in Nepal Successfully Concluded
On April 24, 2026, the handover ceremony of a school at Sri Sidhartha Gautam Buddha Adarbhut Bidhyalaya, aided by the “Silk Road Happiness” Special Fund of the China Foundation for Peace and Development, was successfully held. Zhao Meiling, President of Women Empowerment and Development Society in Asia and Africa, Director of the China Foundation for Peace and Development (CFPD), Initiator of the “Silk Road Happiness” Special Fund of CFPD, led a delegation to attend the event.

In her speech, President Zhao noted that the aid project has effectively improved local school conditions and contributed to the development of basic education in Nepal. She expressed gratitude to the partner organization, the Nepal China Friendship Forum, for its meticulous organization and coordination, which ensured the project’s high-quality completion on schedule.

She emphasized that education lights up the hope for the future, and teachers shoulder the important mission of enlightening minds and nurturing talents. Young people are the cornerstone of national development and the future of China-Nepal friendship. She encouraged local students to study diligently, cherish their homeland, and strive to become inheritors of China-Nepal friendship, promoters of exchanges and cooperation, and guardians of world peace.

Local mayor Sudip Paudel and the school principal also delivered speeches, praising Nepal-China friendship and highly affirming the project’s significance to local education and community development. They expressed deep gratitude to WEDS.AA and the “Silk Road Happiness” Special Fund of the China Foundation for Peace and Development for their generous support. Teachers and students performed traditional Nepalese dances to express their thanks.

At the end of the ceremony, President Zhao and her delegation donated 100 schoolbags to the students as an act of charity, further deepening the grassroots friendship between China and Nepal.
