President Zhao Meiling Attends Dragon Boat Culture Syposium

President Zhao Meiling of Women Empowerment & Development Society in Asia-Africa Attends China-Africa Dragon Boat Culture Exchange Symposium.

On August 29, 2025, President Zhao Meiling of the Women Empowerment & Development Society in Asia-Africa (WEDS.AA) attended the China-Africa Dragon Boat Culture Exchange Symposium hosted by the Dragon Boat Culture Professional Committee of the China Culture Promotion Association (CCPA).

This event aimed to look into the prospects of China-Africa cultural exchanges, advance the development and expansion of China’s traditional dragon boat culture in Africa, enhance the influence of China’s cultural soft power on the African continent, and explore the significance of women in cultural inheritance as well as the empowering role of women’s participation in dragon boat sports in such aspects as women’s health, economy and employment.

Vice President Ding Yibing of the China Culture Promotion Association, President Luo Zhongyi of the Dragon Boat Culture Professional Committee of the China Culture Promotion Association, President Zhao Meiling of WEDS.AA, and President Gouda of the African Dragon Boat Federation delivered speeches respectively. They discussed the important role of cultural exchanges in China-Africa cooperation, shared practices regarding the protection and innovation of China’s dragon boat culture, and looked forward to the development prospects of China-Africa cultural industries. In her speech, President Zhao Meiling of WEDS.AA emphasized that the platform for exchange, mutual learning, cooperation and win-win results built by WEDS.AA and CCPA is designed to help the world gain a better understanding of China and enable China to integrate more deeply into the world. The complementarity of multiple platforms and the linkage of multiple channels will surely make cultural exchanges more splendid and contribute more to enhancing people-to-people connectivity.

At the end of the event, President Luo Zhongyi of the Dragon Boat Culture Professional Committee of the China Culture Promotion Association donated dragon boats to the African Dragon Boat Association, and the exchange event concluded in a warm and friendly atmosphere.
