Teachers and Students from Xizang Explore the Charm of Beijing
On July 31, 2025, the delegation of teachers and students from Wengga Primary School in Dingri County, Shigatse , Xizang, started a vibrant and hopeful day in Beijing. From the grandeur of modern architecture to the vivid display of cultural heritage, and then to the brilliant radiance of the Olympic spirit, the children immersed themselves in the unique allure of the capital, allowing their dreams to bloom quietly through hands-on experiences.
In the early morning, the group set off with eager smiles. Their first stop was the China Central Television Tower (CCTV Tower). As the elevator ascended, the children’s anticipation and excitement were palpable. Reaching the 238-meter-high open-air viewing platform, a panoramic view of Beijing unfolded before their eyes: crisscrossing streets stretched like veins, the newly built CCTV headquarters, the lush Olympic Green Park, and the lake-dotted Yuyuantan Park all formed a skyline of soaring high-rises. Standing atop the platform, the children pointed at distant landmarks, chattering excitedly, their eyes sparkling with curiosity and wonder at the development of a modern metropolis. This “high-altitude journey” not only allowed them to witness firsthand the rapid urban transformation but also planted seeds of exploration for the vast world beyond.
In the afternoon, the delegation visited the Soong Ching Ling Foundation Youth Activity Center, where they were warmly received by Vice President Shen Beili and Deputy Minister Liu Ying of the foundation. Dressed in vibrant Tibetan ethnic costumes, the children performed traditional Xizang dances, showcasing the agility and warmth of the snow-capped plateau. The performance was met with rounds of enthusiastic applause. Afterward, children presented white hada (Tibetan silk scarves) to the guests with pure, respectful gazes, blending the charm of ethnic culture with cross-regional friendship in that moment. Laughter filled the activity center as the group created lasting memories.
As night fell, the delegation arrived at the Olympic Sports Park. The children ran across the square, pausing occasionally to gaze upward, taking photos, and chattering excitedly about the unique designs of the structures. Exploring the Olympic venues deepened their understanding of the Olympic motto “Faster, Higher, Stronger ,Together.”
Today’s journey was not only a direct encounter with modern civilization but also a showcase of ethnic cultural confidence, and a moment of profound comprehension of the Olympic spirit. Through these experiences, the children gained knowledge, and through exchanges, they forged friendships.
