President Zhao Meiling Attends Pakistan’s 85th National Day Reception
On March 20, 2025, at the invitation of His Excellency Khalil Hashmi, Ambassador of Pakistan to China, and Brigadier Ghulam Mustafa, Defense Attaché, Ms. Zhao Meiling, President of the Women Empowerment & Development Society in Asia-Africa, attended Pakistan’s 85th National Day Reception. Over 200 distinguished guests, including His Excellency Sun Weidong, Vice Minister of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China; Ms. Sun Haiyan, Vice Minister of the International Department Central Committee of CPC; diplomats from various countries stationed in China; and friends from Chinese and Pakistani sectors, gathered to celebrate Pakistan’s National Day and discuss the enduring friendship and future cooperation between China and Pakistan.
The reception commenced solemnly with the national anthems of China and Pakistan. His Excellency Khalil Hashmi, Ambassador of Pakistan to China, delivered a speech reflecting on Pakistan’s 85-year journey of development and reaffirming the enduring strength of the “iron-clad friendship” between the two nations.
In his address, Vice Minister Sun Weidong reiterated China’s unwavering commitment to the “iron-clad friendship” with Pakistan, describing the two countries as “good neighbors, good friends, good partners, and good brothers.” He emphasized that collaborative projects such as the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) have injected robust momentum into regional prosperity. He stated, “China stands ready to work with Pakistan to build a closer community with a shared future and contribute wisdom and strength to peace and stability in South Asia.”
As a key advocate for China-Pakistan women’s cooperation, President Zhao Meiling engaged in in-depth exchanges with political leaders and civil representatives from both countries. She remarked, “WEDS.AA will continue to serve as a bridge and bond, promoting exchanges and cooperation between China and Pakistan across multiple fields, and actively contributing to the enhancement of friendship and mutual trust between our peoples.”
The reception concluded in a warm and harmonious atmosphere, marking a successful celebration of bilateral camaraderie.
