Deepening People-to-People Friendship and Cooperation between China and Nepal

On May 27, 2025, Bidya Devi Bhandari, former President of Nepal, met with a delegation led by Xu Jianguo, Secretary-General of the China Foundation for Peace and Development (CFPD), at the Diaoyutai State Guesthouse in Beijing. Zhao Meiling, President of the Women Empowerment and Development Society In Asia-Africa(WEDS.AA), also attended the meeting. The two sides exchanged views on deepening people-to-people friendship and cooperation between China and Nepal.

Xu Jianguo briefly introduced the public welfare projects carried out by CFPD in Nepal, highlighting their remarkable effectiveness in benefiting local communities and winning wide acclaim from all sectors of Nepalese society.

President Zhao Meiling shared the mission of WEDS.AA and outlined the education assistance programs implemented by the organization in Nepal.

President Bidya Devi Bhandari highly praised the profound friendship between China and Nepal, expressing heartfelt gratitude for China’s selfless assistance to Nepal. She expressed her expectation that the two foundations would continue to deepen exchanges and cooperation in various fields, including women’s affairs, to further enhance the friendship between the peoples of the two countries.

Following the meeting, CFPD and the Bhandari Foundation signed a Memorandum of Cooperation to formalize their commitment to advancing bilateral collaboration.
