President Zhao Invited to Attend Forum in Hong Kong
From December 2 to 3, 2024, President Zhao Meiling of the Women Empowerment & Development Society in Asia-Africa was invited to Hong Kong to attend the Global University Presidents & Leaders Summit 2024. The forum was grandly held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center. Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Li Jiachao, Director of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Zheng Yanxiong attended and delivered speeches. Vice Minister of Education Wu Yan delivered a video speech. More than 50 well-known university presidents, experts and scholars from more than 20 countries and regions worldwide gathered on the site to discuss the theme of “knowledge globalization”.


During the summit, President Zhao Meiling had in-depth exchanges with education leaders from all over the world. She said that the Women Empowerment & Development Society in Asia-Africa has always been committed to promoting the development and educational progress of women in the Asia-Africa region and is pleased to take this opportunity to share the experience and achievements of the Asia-Africa Association in promoting women’s education with colleagues in the global education community, and emphasized the key role of education in promoting gender equality and women’s empowerment.


The successful holding of this Global University Presidents & Leaders Summit not only demonstrated Hong Kong’s unique advantages as an international education and technology center, but also provided new opportunities for the Women Empowerment & Development Society in Asia-Africa to promote educational cooperation and development in the Asia-Africa region. The Women Empowerment & Development Society in Asia-Africa will continue to promote the development of women’s education and contribute to building a better and harmonious society.
