President Zhao Meiling Led a delegation to visit South Africa
From August 12th to 14th, 2024, Zhao Meiling, President of the Woman Empowerment & Development Society in Asia-Africa, led a delegation to South Africa for a working visit.President Zhao and her delegation paid a visit to Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Wu Peng of China to South Africa, introducing the recent exchange and cooperation between Chinese and South African women, as well as the purpose of this visit.Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Wu Peng spoke highly of the people-to-people exchanges and mutual learning between China and South Africa, and the Embassy will fully support them.President Zhao also held working talks with Minister-Counselor Liu Yu and Liu Kaiyang, Director Zhang Yang respectively.
During his stay in South Africa,President Zhao met with the Minister of Women, Youth and Disability Affairs of South Africa, to discuss the joint hosting of the 4th Asian – African Women’s Development and Cooperation Forum in Johannesburg in November this year, and reached a consensus.
President Zhao paid a visit to the Premier of Mokgosi in the Northwest Province of South Africa, and exchanges of opinions on carrying out the rural primary school upgrading and renovation public welfare project in the province, reaching a consensus. And we will go to the pilot schools together for inspection.
President Zhao also held talks with the CEO of President Ramaphosa Foundation of South Africa and the First Deputy Secretary General of the African National Congress,Nomvua Mokonyane, as well as the Deputy Secretary General of the African National Congress Women’s Union,Dina Pule. The CEO of the President Ramaphosa Foundation of South Africa highly praised the cooperation with the Woman Empowerment & Development Society in Asia-Africa and discussed relevant cooperation matters.The SA-China People’s Friendship Association has always been committed to friendly exchanges between the people of China and South Africa, which coincides with the purpose of the Woman Empowerment & Development Society in Asia-Africa and helps to further promote people to people exchanges and cooperation, and promote people to people connectivity.
This visit reached consensus on the Fourth Asian – African Women’s Development and Cooperation Forum and the launch of public welfare projects. The visit was a complete success. Du Jing, Director of the Comprehensive Department of theChina Foundation for Peace and Development, accompanied the entire process.
