International Women’s Day (IWD), also known as “International Women’s Day”, “March 8” and “March 8 Women’s Day”. It is a festival established on March 8 every year to celebrate women’s important contributions and great achievements in economic, political and social fields.
On the morning of March 8, 2023, on the occasion of International Women’s Day, the Women Empowerment and Development Society in Asia-Africa held a fellowship event with the theme of “Women like flowers, Sunshine Protection” to celebrate Women’s Day with diplomats from other countries in China. Ambassadors to China of SAO Tome and Principe, Gambia and other ambassadors and their spouses and diplomats from over 20 countries were invited to attend the event.
Ms. Zhao Meiling, President of the Women Empowerment and Development Society in Asia-Africa, delivered a speech first, extending warm welcome and festival congratulations to all the guests.
She pointed out that in the post-COVID-19 era, people are paying more attention to health issues and countries are attaching greater importance to coordinated and sustainable economic and social development. Taking good care of women is the responsibility of the whole society, not only women themselves. This is because only when women are healthy can mankind live endlessly and be full of hope. Only by giving full play to women’s feelings of family, country and mission can women’s wisdom light up the world.
The Ambassador’s wife of Benin, the Ambassador’s wife of Mali, the Ambassador’s wife of Gambia and Mr. Lu Jianfeng delivered warm speeches respectively. Ms. Zhi Qun, Vice President of Tianjin Hezhi Youde Company, introduced the company’s health and wellness program. The solar energy products produced by Huahu Company were also displayed at the scene, which were well received by guests at home and abroad. Ms. Zhao Meiling, President of Women Empowerment and Development Society in Asia-Africa, presented Ms. Zhi Qun with an honorary letter of appointment as Vice President.
